Embraer Expands European Footprint With Lithuanian Industrial Defense Partnership
Brazilian defense contractor Embraer is expanding its presence in Europe through long-term industrial cooperation with Lithuania.
The partnership builds on Vilnius’ June 2025 decision to procure Embraer’s proprietary C-390 Millennium cargo aircraft to modernize its military transport capabilities.
It aligns with the country’s strategic push to build a resilient, future-ready defense industry, as highlighted by its national defense and economic agencies. The effort also aims to strengthen collaboration with academic and research institutions.
In support of its latest collaboration, company teams visited Lithuanian industrial sites earlier this month to explore potential commitments in maintenance, engineering, innovation, and supply chain management.
“We have met with several Lithuanian industrial organizations and have observed their expertise and capabilities,” said Bosco da Costa Junior, CEO and president at Embraer Defense & Security.
“We will contribute to Lithuania’s defense capabilities with the C-390 Millennium aircraft and also support the country’s industrial and technological development.”
Embraer in Europe
Embraer’s work with the Baltic state underscores its continued focus on deepening defense cooperation with both the EU and NATO, according to the company.
Currently, the enterprise has ongoing industrial cooperation programs with Portugal, the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, and the Czech Republic.
From this, over 40 percent of the C-390’s supply chain is already sourced from European partners, with plans underway to expand EU-based support and establish regional training centers.
In December, the firm established a segment in Lisbon to serve as a program management, support, and engineering hub for defense initiatives across Europe in support of regional armed forces and NATO members.
Embraer now plans to open C-390 training centers and strengthen engagements with defense companies and research organizations throughout the continent.
