Danish Firm to Supply Wearable Counter-Drone Systems to US Army

The US Army has contracted MyDefence to deliver over 400 counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) to detect and track a broad spectrum of drone threats.

Valued at $26 million, it is the most significant order received by the Danish firm to date.

Under the contract, 485 wearable C-UAS systems have reportedly been acquired for US Army operations in the US European Command (EUCOM) and other combatant commands worldwide.

Around 15 of the systems were recently deployed by EUCOM during joint exercises in Germany.

The deployment was part of an assessment that included mounted counter-drone systems.

Wearable Counter-Drone System

The MyDefence wearable system, known as the Soldier-Kit, consists of the “Wingman” drone detector for real time scanning and “Pitbull” jammers for precision target disruption.

Designed for troop mobility, the 1.3-kilogram (2.8-pound) console can be tied to tactical gear, tucked away in a bag, or concealed in a combat uniform.

“We are committed to long-term collaboration with US defense stakeholders and to delivering high-performance systems that adapt to the complex and fast-evolving threat landscape,” MyDefence North America CEO William Ostrowski said.

“The growing use of unmanned aerial systems presents a persistent threat across operational environments.

Following extensive testing and evaluation, MyDefence’s systems have proven to be reliable, adaptable, and mission-ready. These capabilities will enhance force protection and enable our units to operate with greater confidence in contested airspace.”
