US Army Taps Oshkosh for $27.6M Boost to Medium Trailer Fleet
The US Army has awarded Oshkosh Defense a $27.6-million contract for a new batch of Medium Equipment Trailers (METs), strengthening its investment in ground logistics.
The order covers 55 trailers and falls under a five-year agreement for the delivery of up to 557 units. It follows a $27.3-million order placed last year for 57 METs.
According to Oshkosh, the trailers provide a “reliable solution” to support the army’s modernization efforts and address evolving logistics and transport requirements.
Production will be carried out in partnership with Dutch vehicle manufacturer Broshuis BV.
No delivery timeline was disclosed.
Supporting Operational Effectiveness
The MET is a six-axle drop-deck trailer designed to be fully interoperable with Oshkosh’s M1300 Enhanced Heavy Equipment Transporter System.
It is capable of carrying combat vehicles weighing up to 60 tons, including the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle, Paladin self-propelled howitzer, and Field Artillery Ammunition Support Vehicles.
Compliant with European Highway Road Network Accessibility standards, the MET can operate under four-meter (13-feet) overpasses and cross water obstacles, thanks to a hydraulically adjustable suspension system.
Oshkosh described the MET as a key platform in supporting the US Army’s operational effectiveness, particularly in contested logistics environments.
“Its rugged design, payload capacity, and compatibility with multiple platforms make it a key enabler for sustaining operations at the edge of the battlefield where speed, adaptability, and resilience are essential for combat readiness,” the company stated.
