The Turkish Ministry of Defence has rolled out its third Reis-class submarine at the Gölcük Naval Shipyard in Kocaeli.
The TCG Murat Reis’ (S-332) launch follows the commissioning of the program’s lead vessel and sea trials of the fleet’s second ship in August 2024.
It coincides with the 572nd anniversary of the historic Conquest of Istanbul and the 114th anniversary of the Turkish Air Force.
Ankara’s Reis submarine program includes the construction of six vessels based on the German Type 214 diesel-electric export submarine.
Beginning this year, Turkey is scheduled to induct one Reis-class vessel annually until 2028.
