US Air Force Taps L3Harris to Bolster C2 Data-Sharing Capability

The US Air Force has selected L3Harris Technologies to develop critical features of a secure digital infrastructure supporting the military’s command and control (C2) capability.

The project centers on the military’s Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS), a service-wide network that streamlines data across multidomain sensors and shooters for an optimized decision-making process.

ABMS allows live exchange of information between sources and troops, amplifying situational awareness during operations.

“This new digital infrastructure will provide the warfighter with more secure, timely and usable information, allowing them to connect sensors and shooters across domains — in complex operational environments” said Kathy Crandall, president at L3Harris.

“We will build off L3Harris’ rich legacy of developing and operating large-scale communications networks to meet the demands of modern military operations.”

Recent Milestones in C2 Solutions

The effort follows L3Harris’ $150-million project in April to provide services for platforms that gather, process, and distribute space-based survey intelligence for the US Space Force.

The same month, the company launched a satellite communications modem that links data from nodes placed across various orbits.

L3Harris also achieved a milestone in March for its ongoing communications receiver supply for the US military and allied forces.

That breakthrough marked the 100,000th delivery of the M-Code GPS component, which supports secure positioning across jamming-congested environments.
