Axon Vision Advances AI Drone Detection System After Field Trials

Axon Vision has progressed its AI drone detection system closer to field deployment after completing operational testing against fast-moving threats on armored vehicles.

The Israeli defense AI company said EDGE ClearSky passed a structured evaluation conducted by a leading defense force, which tested the system during maneuver scenarios involving multiple first-person view drone attack profiles.

These trials focused on real-time detection and tracking performance under conditions designed to replicate modern battlefield environments.

EDGE ClearSky runs on armored platforms and combines thermal sensing with onboard AI processing to identify aerial threats as they emerge.

It is built to reduce response time by linking detection directly to onboard weapon systems, enabling a closed-loop detect-to-intercept process that supports rapid engagement decisions.

Following the assessment, Axon Vision said the system will continue progressing through additional military trials in different operational environments as demand grows for counter-drone solutions capable of handling swarm and first-person view tactics.

Axon Vision Systems Expanding

Axon Vision has been expanding its portfolio of AI-enabled battlefield awareness tools, with several systems tested or integrated into military platforms over the past two years.

In January, Leonardo DRS placed a $350,000 order with Axon Vision for AI-driven counter-drone systems supporting US defense and homeland security missions.

The initial systems provide end-to-end capabilities for detecting, classifying, tracking, and intercepting aerial threats.

In October 2025, the company secured its first major contract worth $614,000 for the license-based EdgeUAV system, which integrates real-time computer vision, neural network processing, and adaptive targeting algorithms to support autonomous flight and engagement missions.

Earlier, in April, Czech Republic-based Retia selected Axon Vision’s EdgeSA situational awareness system for integration on the Pandur 8×8 EVO armored personnel carrier.
