The US Navy has awarded a $478-million contract to Lockheed Martin to support and produce submarine imaging systems.
Issued to the company’s Rotary and Mission Systems unit, the contract covers engineering and technical support alongside production of the Integrated Submarine Imaging System for both new and in-service submarines.
Work will be carried out in Manassas, Virginia, through March 2036.
Structured as an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity award, the contract could reach $1.18 billion if all options are exercised. An initial $600,000 from the US Navy’s fiscal 2025 procurement funds will support early engineering work.
The effort builds on a long-running program that provides submarines with mission-critical visual and electronic sensing, including detection, tracking, and image processing capabilities for undersea operations.
Lockheed Martin Supporting the US Navy
Recent reporting shows how Lockheed Martin continues to secure major roles across US Navy systems, particularly in missile defense and sensing.
In July 2025, Lockheed won a contract worth up to $2.97 billion to support the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense system, including software development, integration, and long-term sustainment of the navy’s core air and missile defense architecture.
By October 2025, the company received a $233-million contract to deliver Infrared Search and Track Block II systems for the US Navy’s F/A-18 aircraft, enhancing passive detection of airborne threats in contested environments.
Beyond direct US Navy awards, Lockheed has also supported allied naval capabilities.
In December 2025, it was named prime contractor for a $100-million program to maintain Japan’s Aegis-equipped destroyers. The deal includes system upgrades and engineering support tied to US Navy interoperability.
