US Approves Aircraft Support Package for Jordan’s F-16, C-130, and F-5

The US State Department has approved a potential $70.5-million foreign military sale (FMS) of aircraft and munitions support, as well as related equipment, for Jordan.

Amman requested support equipment, maintenance services, and related elements for its F-16 and F-5 fighter jets and its C-130 military transport aircraft, building on an original FMS valued at $49.1 million.

S&K Aerospace, LLC, based in Warner Robbins, Georgia, will serve as the principal contractor.

The sale was cleared under an emergency determination, allowing it to proceed immediately without Congressional review amid heightened tensions in the region, following Iranian drone and missile attacks against US military facilities and other critical infrastructure on Jordanian territory.

It is intended to maintain the operational readiness of the specified aircraft used for border patrol and crisis response, and to provide support for the US Central Command’s (CENTCOM) security objectives in the region.

“Sustaining these critical platforms allows Jordan to remain a reliable partner in countering terrorism and promoting regional stability, key components of both Jordanian national defense and broader CENTCOM priorities,” according to the US State Department.

Moreover, this notification comes as Washington also cleared the potential billion-dollar FMS comprising missiles, bombs, counter-drone systems, and a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) radar for the United Arab Emirates, as well as Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS) radars for Kuwait.
