MCTECH Supplies AI Counter-Drone Systems to Latin American Client

MCTECH RF Technologies has delivered AI-enabled counter-drone systems to an unnamed Latin American defense customer, expanding regional efforts to counter rising threats.

The delivery includes the MC-Horizon D360S V5 for fixed-site protection and the MC-Horizon D360BP V5 for mobile force protection.

Both systems use radio frequency sensing combined with artificial intelligence to detect, classify, track, and support the neutralization of drones in real time.

Designed for both infrastructure security and maneuvering units, the systems aim to address increasingly complex drone threats targeting military bases and critical facilities.

Latin America Expands Counter-Drone Procurement

Governments across Latin America have begun investing in concrete counter-drone programs, with several countries launching procurement efforts and signing contracts in recent years.

In January 2026, Colombia announced a $1.68-billion national “anti-drone shield” program, one of the largest in the region, aimed at countering attacks from armed groups using explosive-laden unmanned aerial systems (UAS). The government allocated over $270 million for the first phase alone.

In February 2025, an unnamed Latin American government signed a multi-million-dollar contract with counter-UAS firm Sentrycs to deploy systems across military bases, borders, and high-risk areas as part of a national defense project.

Meanwhile, regional demand continues to grow.

Governments including Mexico and Brazil have initiated procurement and testing of counter-drone technologies, ranging from detection radars to electronic warfare systems, as drone use by criminal groups increases.
