Galvion Launches Ultra-Light Hellbender UL Ballistic Helmet

Galvion has introduced the Batlskin Hellbender UL, an ultra-light ballistic helmet developed for armed forces looking to reduce weight while maintaining standardized protection across units.

The helmet expands the existing Hellbender family, which has already been adopted by several international programs.

The latest version integrates feedback collected from operational use and testing over recent years.

Rather than functioning as a simple protective shell, the Hellbender UL is designed as a complete head system.

Through an updated manufacturing process and refined geometry, the helmet is designed to retain ballistic protection while reducing weight and enhancing structural strength.

The helmet is available in four sizes and multiple cuts, including options that balance coverage with space for communications equipment.

It includes a low-profile front mount, integrated cable routing, and fittings intended to minimize snag hazards in the field.

At the same time, the design supports the use of night-vision devices, face shields, and protective masks.

It is equipped with the company’s Apex liner system, the helmet’s internal padding and fit structure, which provides full-coverage impact protection, and an adjustable fit for improved comfort and stability during extended wear.

Latest Programs

Alongside the launch of its new helmet, Galvion pointed to a series of recent contracts and production investments that reflect growing demand for its protective systems across multiple regions.

The company has been expanding its manufacturing presence in Europe, including adding production capacity in Poland, to support large procurement programs for NATO members and other European armed forces.

In August 2025, the firm also won a $130-million award from the US Marine Corps, which selected the Hellbender platform for its Integrated Helmet System program.

Earlier last year, the company secured additional orders totaling about 35,000 Batlskin helmets for customers in the Middle East, covering both the PDxT and VIPER variants.
