German firm Wingcopter and Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) producer TAF Industries have signed an agreement to create a joint venture.
The deal was announced at the Munich Security Conference in the presence of government officials from both countries, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The planned venture aims to support Kyiv’s defense production by helping maintain supply continuity and shifting part of the manufacturing to Germany to reduce industrial risk.
It is also intended to establish longer-term cooperation between the two nations on defense technologies already used in combat.
As part of the arrangement, TAF Industries will provide UAV designs and operational know-how based on its reconnaissance drones.
At the same time, Wingcopter will supply manufacturing facilities, engineering support, and production capacity in Germany.
The project will be supported by Wingcopter’s new security and defense unit, which focuses on surveillance and cargo drone applications.
“This cooperation is about responsibility, resilience, and strategic growth. For TAF Industries, scaling the production of systems already saving lives on the frontline is a top priority,” stated Volodymyr Zinovskyi, CEO of TAF Industries.
“This joint venture combines our battlefield-proven innovation with Germany’s industrial strength, turning operational expertise into scalable manufacturing.”

Joint Production and Export
The new venture is part of the “Build with Ukraine” program, under which Kyiv plans to open defense production lines in partner countries across Europe and to share domestically developed technologies, particularly drones, missiles, and artillery systems.
In line with this push, US-German autonomous software company Auterion and Ukrainian defense firm Airlogix recently formed a joint venture to produce AI-guided drones for Ukraine and allied countries.
Moreover, President Zelensky announced that Kyiv aims to establish up to 10 weapons export hubs across Europe by the end of the year.
As part of the effort, the war-torn country has already started producing domestically designed drones abroad, with initial production underway in Germany.
