‘Mix-and-Match’ Naval Fleet Concept Takes Shape in Denmark

Danish firm Odense Maritime Technology (OMT) is pitching a new concept for an “all-around” family of naval vessels, presenting four designs capable of handling a wide range of missions.

The lineup begins with the “85 Coast Guard,” an offshore patrol vessel built for surveillance. Its large mission deck can accommodate a 3D radar or up to 11 container-sized mission modules.

Its combat-focused counterpart, the “85 Naval,” comes with a deck gun and a drone lift connected to its mission bay. It swaps the space of three containers for a helicopter deck, which can also be exchanged for anti-ship missile launchers or a vertical launch system.
