BAE Systems Wins $73.8M Contract for Fighter Jet RF Countermeasures

BAE Systems has secured a $73.8-million contract to supply more than 1,200 radio frequency countermeasures systems for US and allied fighter aircraft.

The award, a modification to a previous contract, covers work across multiple US sites, including Nashua, New Hampshire; Elkton, Maryland; and sites in California.

It is scheduled for completion by February 2029.

Funding comes from fiscal 2025 and 2026 US Navy and Air Force procurement budgets, along with foreign military sales contributions.

According to the contract, these countermeasures will strengthen the electronic defense capabilities of both US and partner fighter aircraft.

US RF Countermeasures Investments

BAE Systems’ latest award builds on a series of contracts aimed at strengthening the US military’s electronic warfare and radio frequency defense capabilities.

In 2023, BAE was tapped to produce upgraded EW suites for F‑35 Block 4 fighters, part of the AN/ASQ‑239 system. L3Harris Technologies has also worked on next-generation EW systems for F/A‑18 Hornet and Super Hornet jets.

In 2024, Raytheon also received follow-on contracts for its Next Generation Jammer Mid‑Band system, supplying EA‑18G Growler aircraft with advanced RF countermeasures through 2028.

The same year, BAE was tasked to deliver electronic warfare pods for P‑8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft under a $95-million navy contract.
