GetChkd to Improve US Air, Space Force SATCOM Security

Texas-based GetChkd has secured a $1.9-million contract to bolster the US Air Force and US Space Force’s satellite communications security with blockchain infrastructure.

Blockchain is a shared digital ledger where entries are strictly audited and verified at different security levels.

Information stored through the solution is viewed by authorized users only, with exchanges across the network limited to approved classified and unclassified satellites, sensors, and command systems.

The latest award was signed by the services’ SpaceWERX innovation arm and the Air Force Research Laboratory through the Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) program. This accelerates contracting for emerging military products and expands access for startups.

“The opportunity to extend the use of our Blockchain Infrastructure Platform, while also accelerating commercialization in the private sector, is a significant milestone for GetChkd,” said Michael Caplovitz, founder and CEO.

“We are honored to collaborate with SpaceWERX to advance this technology.”

The Dallas-headquartered company, founded in 2019, received an award last year worth $1.7 million through the SBIR/STTR process to support blockchain research for US Air Force applications.

Caplovitz told Dallas Innovates that GetChkd will continue expanding as additional contracts move through the pipeline.
