Elysium to Resell Seasats’ Autonomous Vessels in Australia, New Zealand
US-based Seasats has partnered with Australian defense technology company Elysium EPL, appointing it as the exclusive reseller of Seasats’ autonomous surface vessels (ASVs) in Australia and New Zealand.
Under the agreement, Elysium EPL will manage regional sales, integration, and support for the ASVs, combining Seasats’ operational experience with Elysium EPL’s regional expertise to enable faster delivery and more effective customer support.
Seasats’ ASVs have been deployed in national security and industry operations, including persistent surveillance, environmental monitoring, and infrastructure inspection.
“At a time when strong allied maritime integrations are key in the Indo-Pacific, this partnership advances international collaboration backed by secure sovereign capabilities,” stated Seasats.
Moreover, the collaboration supports the integration of Seasats’ platforms into Australia’s defense industry and aligns with AUKUS Pillar II priorities in autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, and undersea technologies.
It builds on Elysium EPL’s role in securing Australian Maritime Safety Authority certification for the Seasats’ Lightfish ASV, allowing regulated operations in Australian waters.
It also draws on Seasats’ track record working with international partners, including a recent $89-million contract with the US Navy and Marine Corps.
Seasats’ Autonomous Surface Vessels
Seasats’ ASVs are designed for a range of maritime operations, from long-endurance monitoring to high-speed interception.
The Lightfish is a long-endurance ASV providing continuous maritime operations, including border, port, and offshore infrastructure monitoring.
The vessel features modular open-system architecture for rapid hardware and software integration and is compatible with various command-and-control systems.
Lightfish has a sprint speed of 4.5 knots (8.3 kilometers/5.2 miles per hour), a cruise speed of 2 knots (3.7 kilometers/2.3 miles per hour), and can operate for up to six months with a range exceeding 6,000 nautical miles (11,100 kilometers/6,900 miles).
The Quickfish is a high-speed interceptor ASV designed for open-ocean maritime operations.
It can carry payloads for aerial intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance as well as strike missions, electronic warfare, and modular mission bays.
The vessel features an encrypted communication system and a low-signature design optimized for autonomous operations.
Quickfish has a sprint speed of over 34 knots (63 kilometers/39 miles per hour) and a range exceeding 400 nautical miles (740 kilometers/460 miles).
