US and Ecuador Strengthen Collaboration in Cyber Defense

Ecuador is taking major steps to fortify its cyber defenses, and the United States is playing a key role.

Inspired by the model of US Cyber Command, Ecuador is rapidly building both cyber offense and defense capabilities to protect its national security.

The country’s National Computer Emergency Response Team recently hosted its annual cyber defense exercise, “CIBEREC 2025,” bringing together experts from leading American cybersecurity firms including Palo Alto Networks, Checkpoint, and Resecurity.

Earlier this year, Ecuador’s Armed Forces also ran “COCIBER 2025,” a cyber-range exercise focused on military networks and operations. Supported by US instructors, the training helped bolster the Cyber Defense Command’s ability to detect, defend, and respond to real-world digital threats.

Broader Push for National Security

This momentum has grown more visible following President Daniel Noboa’s successful re-election.

In the lead-up to the 2025 elections, Noboa announced a “strategic alliance” with Erik Prince, founder of the private military company Blackwater, to help combat organized crime in the Latin American nation.

“We have established a strategic alliance to strengthen our capabilities in the fight against narco-terrorism and to protect our waters from illegal fishing,” Noboa highlighted.

“Organized crime has sown fear and believes it can operate with impunity. Their time is running out. International aid is beginning to flow to Ecuador.”

Resecurity’s Role in Ecuador’s Cyber Strategy

In the digital realm, Ecuador has engaged Resecurity, a California-based cybersecurity and intelligence firm that provides specialized solutions for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) to law enforcement and government agencies worldwide.

The company’s expertise in Dark Web intelligence and drug trafficking investigations is expected to play a key role in Ecuador’s broader security strategy.

Ecuador’s growing partnership with Resecurity signals a commitment to strengthening critical areas such as cyber intelligence, leadership protection, critical infrastructure defense, and electoral security — ensuring the country can better counter digital threats and foreign interference.
