Lithuania’s Luna Robotics Raises $1.08M to Expand Drone Imaging

Lithuanian defense tech startup Luna Robotics has raised one million euros ($1.08 million) in pre-seed funding to scale its frontline drone imaging systems already deployed in Ukraine.

The Vilnius-based company develops software-enhanced first-person view (FPV) drone cameras for modern military operations. The funding round included at least 26 investors, led by NGL Ventures.

Luna Robotics’ flagship product, LunaCam, is currently used on the front lines in Ukraine, providing 24/7 visibility and precision strike support in low-light and night-time conditions.

The camera functions as a standard module for NATO-compatible FPV drones and is built on a fully China-free supply chain, a feature increasingly prioritized by defense clients seeking secure, traceable components.

Luna Robotics CEO and Co-Founder Elvinas Kukys said the funding will help the team “continue to move fast because the mission demands it.”

Lithuania’s Expanding Defense Tech Ecosystem

Drone imaging systems like LunaCam have become vital tools in Ukraine, providing real-time intelligence, target identification, and precision support for frontline units.

They enable operators to conduct reconnaissance and strike missions with greater accuracy, especially in contested or GPS-denied environments.

The investment reflects Lithuania’s broader push to strengthen its defense sector and support startups developing dual-use technologies.

In recent years, the country has increased defense spending, partnered with NATO innovation programs, and supported local firms specializing in unmanned systems, communications, and battlefield intelligence.

In August, Lithuania launched the Vytis Defense and Security Innovation Center, a new hub for defense and security projects.

Support from the Innovation Fund and the Lithuanian Business Angel Network has also helped create a favorable environment for startups like Luna Robotics.
