India’s Axiscades Wins Army Deal for Counter-Drone Systems

Indian engineering company Axiscades Technologies has secured a contract to supply 12 man-portable counter-drone systems to the Indian Army.

The order, placed under the Ministry of Defense’s emergency procurement powers, calls for rapid delivery of systems designed to detect, track, and neutralize hostile unmanned aerial vehicles. No contract value was disclosed.

The systems can identify drones at ranges of up to five kilometers and jam their signals across multiple frequencies, disrupting flight control and data transmission.

Axiscades President of Defense Sharadhi Chandra Babu said the contract reflects the government’s confidence in “indigenous defense technology.”

“We remain focused on delivering advanced, field-ready solutions that enhance national defense capability and support the vision of self-reliance in critical military technologies,” he said.

India’s Increasing Drone Technology

The Indian Army has accelerated the development of counter-drone technologies following several incidents in which drones were used for surveillance and arms along the Pakistan border.

As commercial drones become cheaper and easier to modify for military use, the threat has grown more urgent.

The Axiscades deal is part of a broader Indian push to strengthen both offensive and defensive drone capabilities. Over the past year, the army and other services have tested loitering munitions, long-endurance UAVs, and multiple counter-drone platforms from domestic suppliers.

Reliance on local firms such as Axiscades also aligns with the government’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India) policy, which prioritizes homegrown defense manufacturing to meet immediate operational requirements and build long-term industrial capacity in key defense technologies.
