RTX Debuts Gallium Nitride-Enhanced Radar Offering ‘First-Look, First-Shoot’ Edge

RTX’s Raytheon has rolled out a new variant of its combat-tested APG-82 radar, this time built with gallium nitride (GaN) for increased range and effectiveness.

Dubbed the APG-82(V)X, the latest version brings expanded air-to-air, air-to-ground, and electronic warfare (EW) capabilities.

GaN semiconductors boost range without demanding additional power, while an open architecture design ensures the system can fit current aircraft and evolve with future platforms.
