Ukraine Identifies US, European, Asian Components in Russian Weapons

Kyiv has discovered thousands of foreign-made components found in Russian weapons used in Ukraine, including more than 132,000 parts originating from Europe, the US, China, and Japan.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged stronger sanctions to block supply routes, prevent circumvention, and increase pressure on states and companies involved in the conflict.

“All these technologies help Russia create weapons on a large scale. All for the sake of terror against our people. If Russia is not stopped, this will surely become a threat to the countries of Europe and the Indo-Pacific,” he stated.

He added that Ukrainian forces repel Russian attacks almost daily, recording more than 1,500 strike drones, 1,280 guided aerial bombs, and 50 missiles in the past week alone.

Foreign-Made Components

Since the war with Kyiv began three years ago, several countries allied with Russia have provided it with military supplies.

A new report by the Korea Office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom estimates that Pyongyang has supplied Moscow with up to $9.8 billion in weapons, ammunition, and even troops since 2023.

Ukraine has previously reported that seized Russian weapons include foreign-made components from countries beyond Russia’s allies.

In May, military intelligence detailed parts recovered from an S8000 “Banderol” cruise missile, including batteries and phototransistors from Japan, a telemetry module from Australia, and servo drives from South Korea.

Earlier this year, a clock buffer from an Indian company was identified in other Russian systems.

A few months after the conflict began in 2022, Ukrainian officials said Moscow was still able to obtain US technology, with US-made microchips found in a Pantsir air defense system and a Kh-101 cruise missile.
