US Clears $10M for New Radar Development at Eglin AFB

The US House of Representatives has approved $10 million in development funding for a new radar system at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.

The investment will center on CHAOS Industries’ ASTRIA system, a mobile radar designed to track multiple objects for test and training missions.

ASTRIA features “coherent distributed networking,” which links smaller, low-cost radar sensors into one system instead of relying on a single, traditional radar that usually has an expensive price tag.

The California-based company said the network becomes more effective as additional nodes are integrated, enabling broader and more precise tracking over a wide area.

Once fielded, the radar is expected to create more realistic training scenarios for pilots facing modern air and missile threats, giving aircrews better preparation amid growing global demands on US forces.

“Never has there been a more important time to be building in defense technology,” CHAOS Industries Co-Founders John Tenet and Dr. Bo Marr said in a joint statement.

“We believe this development will provide a significant validation of our technology and a testament to the grit and tenacity of our entire team, who have worked tirelessly to revolutionize what is possible in distributed sensing and defense.”

Alongside ASTRIA, CHAOS Industries is also working on VANQUISH, a radar solution designed for mobile, expeditionary use.

Together, the technologies aim to expand the US military’s ability to train with advanced radar tools at home bases and in the field.
