Turkey’s First Indigenous UCAV Climbs to 40,000-Ft, ‘Extends Ceiling’ in Drone Class
Turkish drone maker Baykar Technology revealed that its upgraded Bayraktar TB2T-AI has set a “record in its class” after soaring to 40,000 feet (12,192 meters) during a recent test flight.
The unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) reportedly reached speeds of up to 160 knots (300 kilometers/186 miles per hour) and ascended to 30,000 feet (9,144 meters) in just 30 minutes.
Baykar added that the indigenous drone sustained a flight altitude of 40,023 feet (12,199 meters), surpassing its previous record of 37,096 feet (11,306 meters), though the total flight duration was not disclosed.
