Turkey’s Pasifik Teknoloji Bags Massive 100,000-Drone Deal

Pasifik Teknoloji has signed a framework contract with an undisclosed partner for the export of 100,000 attack drones, marking a major international breakthrough for the Turkish firm.

The company disclosed in a regulatory filing that the agreement was reached with a technology and defense institution from a “friendly and allied” country, according to Daily Sabah

The deal includes the export of 100,000 Merkut first-person view unmanned aerial systems, along with 10 Alpin unmanned helicopters, 25 Dumrul mini unmanned helicopters, 500 Deli kamikaze systems, and 500 Korgan autonomous ground support and surveillance units.

This represents the first export order of a defense product for the Istanbul-based company, marking a key milestone in its growth. Further details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Future Plans

Citing Pasifik Teknoloji CEO Aykut Ferah, Defence Turkey reported that the deal also includes plans to establish joint ventures and develop local production capabilities.

“This structure clearly demonstrates Pasifik Teknoloji’s objective of becoming not only a company that exports products, but also a player that develops technology, exports production capabilities, and creates lasting value in the markets where it operates,” Defence Turkey quoted Ferah as saying.

“We are receiving strong demand from different geographies, and our discussions with the Secretariat of Defence Industries are also continuing. In the coming period, our cooperation with friendly and allied countries will continue to grow.

And these partnerships will not be limited solely to product exports; technology transfer and broader strategic collaborations will also come to the forefront.”

Merkut Kamikaze Drone

First unveiled in 2024, the Merkut system features a guided fragmentation warhead and a proximity sensor for automated detonation from distances of up to 5 meters (16.4 feet).

The system is equipped with additional safety features to avoid unintended detonation and is designed to withstand electronic interference.

It has an endurance of 20 minutes and a range of approximately 8 kilometers (5 miles).

Upgraded versions include an armor-piercing warhead, fiber-optic communication to counter electronic warfare, and artificial intelligence-based target tracking and autonomous engagement capabilities.
