China Shows Off ‘World’s Heaviest’ Cargo Drone Built for Extreme Terrain

China takes a new approach to powering its logistics with the Changying-8 (CY-8), the world’s heaviest multi-terrain cargo drone designed for high-altitude missions.

Developed by China North Industries Group Corporation (Norinco), the drone measures 17 meters (56 feet) long with a 25-meter (82-foot) wingspan.

Its 18-cubic-meter (636-cubic-foot) fully enclosed cargo bay has both front and rear access, enabling rapid loading and unloading of payloads in about 15 minutes.
