Anduril Secures $43M to Boost US Solid Rocket Motor Production
The US Department of Defense has awarded Anduril Industries $43.7 million in additional funding to expand domestic production of solid rocket motors (SRMs), a critical bottleneck in the munitions supply chain.
The award follows a previous $14.3 million Pentagon investment granted to the company in December 2024.
Combined with Anduril’s previously announced $75 million private investment, the funds aim to increase US SRM manufacturing capacity amid rising demand for missiles and precision-guided munitions.
Constrained Supply Chain
SRMs power a wide range of weapons, from air defense interceptors to tactical munitions.
US defense officials have flagged them as a key bottleneck, particularly as the Pentagon seeks to replenish stockpiles and prepare for high-intensity conflict scenarios.
Defense Production Act Support
The funding comes via the Defense Production Act (DPA) Title III program, which allows the federal government to invest in domestic industrial capabilities deemed critical for national defense.
The program has in recent years been used to strengthen production of missiles, critical materials, and microelectronics.
The latest Anduril funding will support expanded test fire infrastructure, increased storage capacity, and additional manufacturing tooling at the company’s production facility in Mississippi.
Anduril opened the site for full-rate production in August 2025, becoming the third US-based supplier of solid rocket motors.
Since the initial DPA investment, Anduril has also secured a full-rate production contract with a European tactical air defense customer and was selected by Saab to supply the rocket motor for the Ground-Launched Small Diameter Bomb.
