Gilat Wins $9M Israel Defense SATCOM Contract

Gilat Satellite Networks has secured a $9-million order from Israel’s Ministry of Defense to deliver and integrate satellite communications (SATCOM) systems for military use.

The contract, awarded to Gilat’s defense division, covers the supply of next-generation defense modems and related services that form part of the company’s ground-based SATCOM solutions.

According to Gilat, the systems are designed for mission-critical operations and are built to function reliably in harsh and unpredictable environments, a key requirement for military communications.

The order centers on strengthening secure and flexible connectivity across a range of operational scenarios.

Gilad Landsberg, President of Gilat Defense, said that the contract “highlights the continued importance of advanced SATCOM as an enabler for modern defense forces.”

Improving Israeli Defense SATCOM

Gilat’s latest award comes amid steady investment by Israel’s defense sector in SATCOM over the past several years.

In July 2025, the company won a contract valued at more than $8 million from Israel’s Ministry of Defense for strategic defense communication systems.

By December 2024, Elbit Systems received approximately $130 million for advanced communication systems, including satellite links and software-defined radios, to support Israeli defense platforms.

Around the same time, Orbit Communication Systems won a $9.1-million tender from Israel’s Ministry of Defense to supply multipurpose satellite terminals for ground platforms.
