OCCAR Signs Co-Funding Deal for Indra-Led Airborne Electronic Attack Program
The Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR) has signed a co-funding contract on behalf of several participating European states for the next phase of the REACT II (Responsive Electronic Attack for Cooperative Tasks II) program, coordinated by Indra.
Under the agreement, the participating nations formalize funding and assign program management to OCCAR on behalf of Spain, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Poland, the Netherlands, and France.
Aiming to address evolving electromagnetic threats, REACT II focuses on developing airborne electronic warfare capabilities designed to be integrated across different aircraft types.
As part of this effort, the program is building and testing a modular system that can be reconfigured to meet the requirements of different mission profiles.
Financed through a combination of national contributions and European Commission funding, the initiative involves a consortium of 20 partners from 10 countries working on technologies and prototypes for next-generation electronic warfare systems.
Total program costs are estimated at 69 million euros ($81 million), including a maximum EU contribution of 40 million euros ($47 million).
REACT II Program
The REACT II program was launched in 2023 and continues the work of the earlier REACT I project.
The initiative covers the full technology chain from applied research to development and delivery of high-technology components for airborne electronic attack systems.
Technologies under development include Active Electronically Scanned Array antennas, digital radio-frequency memory systems, digital beamforming, environmental control systems using ram air turbines, and electronic warfare command-and-control systems.
These are intended to support a range of missions, including escort jamming, long-range jamming, and command and control of electronic warfare operations.
