Red Cat Secures Black Widow Drones Order From Asia-Pacific Customer
Red Cat Holdings has announced that an undisclosed Asia-Pacific customer has selected its Black Widow small unmanned aircraft system.
Delivery of an unspecified number of systems is scheduled for this year.
Each system configuration includes two Black Widow aircraft, a ground control station, and additional mission-related equipment.
According to the company, this is the second recent military order for the Black Widow from an Asia-Pacific customer.
“This agreement highlights the trust our international partners place in Red Cat to deliver secure, US-built drone systems purpose-built for today’s battlefield,” said Jeff Thompson, CEO of Red Cat.
“As geopolitical dynamics shift, we see accelerating demand for autonomous, interoperable technologies that enhance allied operational readiness. This order underscores Red Cat’s growing role as a strategic partner in the region.”

Black Widow
The Black Widow is designed for tactical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions.
The platform features a compact and rugged airframe that supports deployment in demanding operational environments, along with a secure communications architecture for military use.
In its standard configuration, the Black Widow weighs approximately 4.26 pounds (1.93 kilograms) and has a speed of 47 kilometers (29 miles) per hour.
It has an endurance of more than 50 minutes and an operational range of roughly 5 miles (8 kilometers), supporting short- to medium-range ISR missions.
For situational awareness, the platform can be fitted with Reveal Farsight 3D mapping software, enabling the generation of three-dimensional terrain representations during flight.
It also includes target identification, tracking, and classification capabilities to support mission planning and real-time decision-making.
