DroneShield Wins $8.2M Contract to Supply Counter-Drone Systems

DroneShield has secured an $8.2-million contract to deliver handheld counter-drone systems and support services to a Western military customer.

The contract, awarded through an in-country reseller, covers portable counter-unmanned aerial system (UAS) equipment, accessories, spare kits, and ongoing software updates.

Rather than a one-off purchase, the deal extends a relationship that has lasted more than seven years and has included multiple programs.

Handheld systems have become especially important for dismounted units operating in dynamic and contested environments. These tools provide immediate detection and identification of uncrewed aerial threats and allow troops to respond without relying solely on vehicle-mounted or fixed-site defenses.

According to the company, the award highlights broader procurement trends, including faster acquisition timelines and a growing emphasis on scalable systems that can adapt through software updates as drone threats evolve.

DroneShield’s Global Footprint

Over the past two years, DroneShield has delivered counter-drone systems to military and government customers across several regions, reflecting rising global demand for portable airspace protection.

In Ukraine, DroneShield equipment has been supplied to support frontline operations amid widespread use of small drones in the conflict. The company has repeatedly confirmed deliveries of handheld and fixed counter-UAS systems to Ukrainian forces since 2024.

Across Europe, the firm has provided counter-drone capabilities to multiple NATO and partner nations, including deployments for military bases and field units in Eastern and Northern Europe, where concerns over low-cost aerial threats have driven accelerated procurement.
