India, Israel Team Up to Build Electric UGV Tech in India

Indian firm Belrise Industries has entered a strategic partnership with Israel’s Plasan Sasa to jointly manufacture autonomous electric vehicle components in India.

The agreement focuses on adapting Plasan’s All-Terrain Electric Mission Module (ATEMM) for New Delhi’s military.

ATEMM is a 2×2 electric-powered unmanned ground vehicle designed to improve payload capacity, onboard energy availability, survivability, and mobility across varied surfaces.

The 2-meter (7-foot) platform is deployed as a standalone unit or a trailer attachment, delivering up to 50 kilowatts per hour of power to supply other vehicles or equipment.

It can also be combined with another module, forming a full 4×4 or 8×8 vehicle with a full-electric drive equal to 800 horsepower and a payload capacity of over 2,000 kilograms (4,409 pounds).

“This partnership agreement represents a significant milestone in our journey to bring world-class defense technologies to India,” said Swastid Badve, chief of staff at Belrise Industries.

“By combining Belrise’s manufacturing capabilities with Plasan’s innovation, we are confident in delivering solutions that meet the evolving needs of the Indian Armed Forces.”

Industrial Fusion

The collaboration follows Belrise and Plasan’s partnership established in late December to support broader manufacturing and industrialization in India.

Under this agreement, Plasan will provide expertise in armor, survivability, and advanced automotive defense systems, targeting provisions for technology transfer and localized production under the South Asian government’s defense industrial push.

Belrise specializes in chassis parts, suspension systems, and other automotive components for two-wheelers, passenger vehicles, and commercial platforms.

Meanwhile, Plasan specializes in vehicle protection, survivability solutions, and integrated defense systems used by militaries worldwide.

Plasan vice president for marketing and business development Gilad Ariav said the cooperation would “serve India’s defence requirements” while strengthening Plasan’s “global supply chain with cost-effective production from India.”
