Sweden has become the first European country to buy the RIPSAW M3 robotic ground vehicle from Textron Systems.
Part of Textron’s RIPSAW series, the M3 is a rugged, modular robotic platform designed for rapid integration of payloads, controllers, and autonomy suites and features a hybrid-electric powertrain, high ground clearance, and composite rubber tracks.
“The RIPSAW M3 is ideally suited for operations in the region because of its high performance in challenging climates and terrains,” said Textron Systems VP of Programs Sara Willett.
Rugged Robotic Platform
The RIPSAW M3 is a rugged robotic ground vehicle with a gross weight of 14,800 pounds (6,711 kilograms). It is able to carry up to 5,000 pounds (2,268 kilograms) and deliver 10 kilowatts of onboard power to support advanced sensors, weapons, or other systems.
It features a modular deck area of 63 square feet (5.85 square meters) with a deck height of 48 inches (1.2 meters), providing flexible space for mission-specific payloads.
Built to perform a range of missions, including reconnaissance and light combat support, the uncrewed platform measures 206 by 80 inches (5.2 by 2 meters) and reaches speeds of over 30 miles (48 kilometers) per hour.
In March, it was selected for the US Army’s Robotic Combat Vehicle program.
