Israeli Firm to Supply 100+ Sound-Based Drone Detectors for VIP Facilities
Israeli startup Insignito has won a defense contract to deliver 180 acoustic unmanned aerial system (UAS) detection systems to protect high-security VIP sites.
The deployment will start in January 2026 and gradually expand through the year until all systems reach full operational capability, Israel Defense reported.
Each location will have six networked “Dumbo” sensors that work together to locate drones using sound triangulation, an approach that calculates direction and distance based on noise.
Insignito said it has already tested the system in Israel and the US, where the technology detected UAS from up to 2,000 meters (6,562 feet) away while maintaining accurate direction readings.
Centered on Acoustic Systems
Established in 2022 by former Israeli Air Force engineers, Insignito focuses on technology for drone noise analysis and sound-based tracking.
The Tel Aviv-based company’s work also includes developing quieter UAS propellers and Waveguide, a planning tool that uses acoustic data to optimize drone missions.
“Acoustic systems are the future of drone detection,” said Itay Nourian, CEO at Insignito.
“They deliver superior performance at roughly one-tenth the cost of legacy approaches, and the market is clearly shifting toward an acoustics-and-drones era. Our focus is on making that shift practical at scale.”
Growth and Future Plans
Beyond its domestic market, Insignito plans to expand into the American and European defense sectors next year as demand grows from Israeli defense firms, military tech units, and international partners seeking affordable drone detection systems.
To back its expansion, Insignito recently raised $1.5 million in pre-seed funding from local venture Fresh Defense Fund and Colorado-based ICI Fund.
This month, the company is set to showcase its Dumbo platform at a tactical UAS convention in Tel Aviv, which involves defense leaders and government officials who will explore new developments in drone and security technology.
