Ukrainian Defence Intelligence has received a Magura V7 unmanned surface vehicle funded through public donations, continuing the country’s effort to strengthen its naval capabilities in the Black Sea.
It was purchased through a nationwide fundraising campaign organized by the Diana Podolyanchuk Charity Foundation in partnership with the Main Intelligence Directorate.
The drive drew support from Ukrainian artists, online content creators, and public figures, including music groups Kurgan & Agregat, DakhaBrakha, and Bahroma, the Veterans of the Space Forces, the Maserati for Donation by Serhiy Rudyk and Andriy Tkachuk, the Farid Speaks YouTube channel, Our Vision, OG Burger, and CloserConnections.
The donated craft features a football-themed design created during the Magura United charity match, where Ukrainian athletes and entertainers raised funds to support the program.
Earlier this year, the Magura family of sea drones gained attention after reportedly destroying two Russian Mi-8 helicopters and two Su-30 fighter jets.
“Magura V7 is the world’s first marine drone to destroy aerial targets. This is a symbol of our collective strength,” said Foundation Chair Diana Podolyanchuk.
“We’ve proven that when the military, volunteers, artists, and thought leaders come together — we can create what no army in the world can. Every donut from our partners turns into a real blow to the enemy. We will continue until we gain victory.”
The Magura V7 Drone Boat
Designed by Ukraine’s state-owned defense company SpetsTechnoExport, the Magura V7 is a remote-controlled, multi-purpose drone boat used for reconnaissance and strike missions.
The vessel, measuring 7 meters (23 feet) long and 2 meters (7 feet) wide, features a lightweight hull made of fiberglass and polyethylene weighing about 3,400 kilograms (7,496 pounds).
It has a payload capacity of 650 kilograms (1,433 pounds) and is powered by a 270-horsepower diesel engine, allowing a top speed of up to 39 knots (72 kilometers/45 miles per hour) and a range of 800 nautical miles (1,482 kilometers/921 miles).
With an onboard generator, the vessel can operate autonomously for up to seven days and handle sea conditions up to Sea State 3, with waves reaching around 1.25 meters (4.1 feet).
The Magura V7 can be armed with a twin launcher for AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles as well as a machine gun turret for close-in defense.
For navigation and control, the sea drone uses an autopilot system with multiple video feeds and an encrypted satellite communication link for remote operation.
It is also equipped with an acoustic monitoring system, night vision sensors, and day and night gyro-stabilized turrets for surveillance, and offers additional communication modules for improved coordination and data sharing during missions.
