Unusual Machines to Supply Components for Red Cat’s FANG Drones
Unusual Machines has received an $800,000 order from Red Cat to supply components for the company’s FANG first-person view (FPV) drones, including cameras, transmitters, and motors.
The parts will support flight control, navigation, real-time video transmission, and operator management.
The collaboration reflects growing demand for US-made, National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)-compliant systems for defense, public safety, and other government applications.
“High-quality, NDAA-compliant components are now table stakes, what truly matters is how fast you can deliver them,” stated Stacy Wright, EVP of Revenue at Unusual Machines.
Jeff Thompson, Red Cat CEO said that “after working with Unusual Machines for the past year and a half to produce FANGs, we’re ready to bring these American-made FPV drones to market.”
FANG System
The FANG drone is currently under development and undergoing Blue UAS certification, a program that designates drone systems approved to meet the evolving operational needs of US Department of Defense users.
FANG features a modular design that enables low-cost, portable, and recoverable operations for rapid target detection and engagement.
It combines FPV agility with kinetic payloads and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance assets.
Operators can tailor kits to mission needs and control multiple assets through a single interface.
This integrated approach shortens the time between detection and action, simplifies operations, and enhances operator safety.
