Baltic Firms Collaborate to Deliver Counter-Drone Solution for Russian Incursions

Latvian defense tech startup Origin Robotics and Estonia’s Defsecintel Solutions have signed a memorandum of understanding to support the European Union’s cross-border “drone wall” initiative, aimed at countering repeated Russian airspace violations along Europe’s eastern border.

Signed during Estonian Defence Week, the partnership will combine Defsecintel’s mobile Eirshield counter-drone system with Origin’s autonomous drone interceptor “Blaze.”

The collaboration aims to provide a turnkey solution that offers end-users a comprehensive, mobile, and cost-effective system to counter a wide range of drone threats.

“Politicians have called for a Drone Wall. We are ready to build it,” DefSecIntel Solutions CEO Jaanus Tamm said

“This is not a concept or a PowerPoint. It is a live, integrated system ready to protect Europe’s eastern flank today.”

Eirshiled Counter-Drone System

Eirshield is an AI-assisted ultra-short-range air defense system designed to deliver comprehensive protection against a broad spectrum of aerial threats, including multi-rotor and fixed-wing drones.

Tested and refined through active deployments in Ukraine, the mobile, all-terrain system integrates multiple sensors and effectors to track and neutralize hostile aerial targets.

It uses advanced radar technology for detection at ranges of up to 8 kilometers (5 miles), while radio frequency sensors and an electro-optical/infrared camera work in tandem with the radar to verify and classify detected threats.

Once a target is identified, the system uses AI-assisted technology to track and jam radio frequency and satellite navigation signals.

Eirshield can be integrated with AI-assisted soft-kill interceptor drones, as well as a range of hard-kill effectors, including machine guns and missiles.

Blaze Interceptor

The Blaze is a man-portable, operator-supervised interceptor that can be rapidly deployed to defeat drones evading conventional air defense systems.

Using onboard AI and computer vision, it tracks and identifies high-speed aerial targets, including loitering munitions, and neutralizes them either by direct impact or by detonating a high-explosive fragmentation warhead in close proximity.

The system ensures the operator retains final control, with the ability to redirect or abort a mission, or trigger self-destruction if required.

Its transport case doubles as both a launch platform and a charging dock, enabling rapid deployment.

Thanks to its toolless design, the system can be flight-ready in under 10 minutes upon arrival, with the first drone airborne in less than 5 minutes and subsequent launches achievable in under one minute.

“Origin’s Blaze is built to defeat fast, low-flying and manoeuvrable targets that traditional systems may miss — a strong complement to Eirshield’s layered detection and countermeasure architecture,” Defsecintel Solutions stated.
