Theon Wins $58M Order for Next-Gen Thermal Clip-Ons From Germany, Belgium

Cyprus-based Theon International has signed a contract with the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation for the delivery of next-generation IRIS-C thermal clip-on systems to Germany and Belgium.

The initial contract is valued at approximately 50 million euros ($58.7 million), with an optional extension of 150 million euros ($176 million).

Deliveries are scheduled for 2026-2027 in cooperation with Germany-based Andres Industries, which will also handle the maintenance and support of the systems.

“Theon once again managed to win the biggest man portable tender so far this year in Europe. Most importantly, this happened with one of our new products that competed with similar established products,” Theon CEO Christian Hadjiminas said.

“This is an important proof of our product quality, swift design and developmental work undertaken by our engineering team.

Germany and Belgium will become even more important for our future growth, as our constantly increasing local and thus global production footprint has been paving the path for commercial success.”

IRIS-C Thermal Clip-On

The next-generation thermal clip-on is designed to enhance existing optical sights by providing advanced thermal imaging capabilities.

It is compatible with both Theon and third-party night vision goggles, providing fused imagery that enhances the operator’s ability to detect, recognize, and track targets in a variety of light and environmental conditions.

When integrated with Theon’s Smart Battery Pack or Smart Gateway, the IRIS-C can display augmented reality data, including friend-or-foe identification, target recognition, and mission overlays, and supports connectivity with existing Battle Management Systems.

“These new orders are a good testament of the long-lasting relationships we forge with our clients,” Deputy CEO & Business Development Director of Theon Philippe Mennicken stated.

“Theon remains the supplier of choice for man-portable devices as our products are robust and tested under the most extreme conditions, in all kinds of environments.”
