Schiebel Launches Weaponized Camcopter Drone Variants

Austrian company Schiebel has unveiled two vertical take-off and landing unmanned aerial systems designed for armed operations.

Derived from the Camcopter S-100, Schiebel’s S-101 and S-301 address rising demand for armed autonomous platforms.

The S-301 builds on the unarmed S-300, itself an enhanced version of the S-100, which has been operational across multiple land and naval forces.

The S-300 has a maximum payload of 250 kilograms (551 pounds), compared with the S-100’s 50 kilograms (110 pounds).

Designed to Counter Asymmetric Threats

Schiebel’s new subsidiary, Schiebel Defence, developed the new systems with an emphasis on integrating in-service missiles and rockets optimized for tactical rotary platforms.

Built for multi-domain defense, the system counters asymmetric threats at stand-off ranges with advanced performance, AI, and robust military-grade integration.

Moreover, both systems ensure operational effectiveness in highly contested electromagnetic environments.

“The worldwide security landscape is shifting rapidly and we are seeing a significant increase in demand for armed unmanned platforms and systems,” Schiebel Group Chairman Hans Georg Schiebel said.

“With the establishment of Schiebel Defence GmbH, we are positioning ourselves to respond directly to this demand.

The launch of the weaponised CAMCOPTER® S-101 and S-301 platforms reflects our commitment to providing armed forces with advanced, reliable and mission-ready armed systems that meet the challenges of modern operations.”
