Ukraine’s Odd Systems Partners With Denmark’s Terma for Drone Defense

Ukrainian defense tech company Odd Systems has partnered with Denmark’s Terma Group to jointly develop a low-cost, AI-powered drone interceptor.

Under the collaboration, Terma brings expertise in defense systems integration and sensor technologies.

Odd Systems focuses on first-person view drones, thermal imaging, and field operations with Ukrainian forces.

The two companies will combine their technologies to develop adaptable solutions for emerging aerial threats.

As the use of drones in combat increases and drives demand for kinetic countermeasures, Terma Group stated that the collaboration aims to develop systems to detect, track, and intercept unmanned aerial vehicles widely deployed in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

These include first-person view drones and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) quadcopters such as the DJI Mavic.

The list also covers fixed-wing ISR platforms including the Zala and long-range strike drones such as the Shahed.

“Together, we can integrate best-in-class technology with agile, combat-adapted drone platforms to accelerate the evolution of future air combat capabilities,” stated Filip Rensch-Jacobsen, VP at Terma Group.

Boosting Cooperation

Kyiv has been deepening military cooperation to jointly develop defense systems and strengthen its capabilities in its war against Russia.

This strategic shift is underscored by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s introduction of the “Build with Ukraine” initiative, which seeks to establish defense manufacturing partnerships with Western allies.

Last month, the UK and Ukraine signed an agreement to collaborate on battlefield technology, focusing on increasing drone production and aligning the capabilities of their defense industries.

The deal includes sharing battlefield data from Ukraine with British defense companies to jointly accelerate the design, manufacturing, and deployment of military equipment for frontline use.
