Sweden Unveils $501M Military Aid Package for Ukraine

Sweden has announced its 19th military aid package for war-torn Ukraine, committing 4.8 billion Swedish kronor ($501 million).

The measure targets critical defense needs through coordinated international efforts.

“These disbursements will make Ukraine’s armed forces and defense industry stronger in their defense against Russia,” said Minister for Defence Pål Jonson.

Support Through Coalitions

Part of the measure focuses on targeted areas such as drones, naval operations, demining, and digital systems.

Cooperating with the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, an international mechanism coordinating military assistance and organized in coalitions, Sweden will donate $31.2 million to the Latvia and UK-led drone coalition.

Under the same mechanism, another $10.4 million will support the demining capability coalition, covering mine sensors, clearance vehicles, and protective gear.

The Scandinavian country will pledge $5.2 million to train Ukrainian naval personnel under the Norway/UK-led maritime capability coalition.

Additionally, $3.1 million will support the development of DELTA, Ukraine’s cloud-based situational awareness platform, through the IT coalition.

Local Industry, Ground Combat, Ammunition

Sweden’s latest military aid package to Kyiv includes key contributions to Ukraine’s industry, ground combat capability, and ammunition procurement.

Over $105 million will support the Danish-led model sourcing materiel from Ukrainian defense firms, boosting long-term local supply capacity.

Another $43 million will go toward armored vehicles as part of a broader effort by Nordic and Baltic countries.

Sweden is also contributing over $105 million to fast-track ammunition procurement, split between Czech- and Estonian-led initiatives.
