UK to Supply 120,000+ Drones to Ukraine in Largest-Ever UAS Package

The UK Ministry of Defence has pledged to supply over 120,000 unmanned aerial systems to Ukraine in its largest drone assistance to date.

The military aid, now being delivered, includes platforms in long-range strike, intelligence and reconnaissance, logistics, and maritime configurations, all described as battle-proven on Ukraine’s front lines.

Associated funding will fuel production in partnership with local British firms, including Tekever, Windracers, and Malloy Aeronautics.

UK Defence Secretary John Healey unveiled the initiative ahead of co-chairing the 34th Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting in Berlin alongside German and NATO counterparts.

‘Big Boost’

London linked the move to the growing role of drones in the conflict at the eastern NATO flank, with Russia launching approximately 6,500 kamikaze drones against the Ukrainian Armed Forces in March, marking an increase from February.

“In the fifth year of Putin’s brutal war, the UK is stepping up further and providing the highest ever number of drones for Ukraine this year,” Healey said.

“This big boost of battle-proven drones will give Ukrainian forces the capability they need to defend their people and fight back against Russian aggression.”

More Aid Expected

The UK’s latest drone package forms part of the government’s broader 3-billion-pound ($4 billion) support commitment to Ukraine in 2026, which will incorporate “hundreds of thousands” of artillery rounds and “thousands” of air defense missiles.

UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves is expected to outline additional financial support for Kyiv at a meeting of international finance ministers in Washington.

“With eyes on the Middle East in recent weeks, Putin wants us to be distracted, but Ukrainians continue to fight with huge courage and nothing will distract us from continuing to stand with them for as long as it takes to secure peace,” Healey stated.
