MBDA Projects 40 Percent Missile Output Growth After Doubling Production Since 2023

European missile maker MBDA is expecting to boost production by about 40 percent in 2026, on top of having doubled missile output between 2023 and the end of 2025 amid rising defense demand.

CEO Eric Béranger highlighted MBDA’s rapid industrial ramp‑up and its ability to meet accelerated orders for advanced weapons systems.

In 2025, MBDA reported revenues of 5.8 billion euros ($6.7 billion), driven by deliveries under major European and international contracts, a robust 13.2-billion-euro ($15.1-billion) order intake, and a 44.4-billion-euro ($51-billion) backlog of future orders.

Béranger said continued investment and expanded production are aimed at reinforcing European defense readiness in a shifting security environment.

To support sustained growth, MBDA plans to invest 5 billion euros ($5.7 billion) from 2026 through 2030 and hire about 2,800 new employees in 2026.

The company said this industrial expansion will underpin its ability to provide critical capabilities — from air defense missiles to deep‑strike systems — to European nations and allied customers.

Major MBDA Deliveries in 2025

The past year saw MBDA ramping up its missile production and delivery efforts, responding to growing European and allied demand for advanced air and missile defense systems.

In August 2025, MBDA delivered the first batch of Aster air defense missiles to customers under accelerated production efforts led by the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation.

These missiles, part of a joint contract involving France, Italy, and the UK, are intended to strengthen air defense systems and demonstrate streamlined delivery timelines compared with earlier projections.

Additionally, MBDA has remained active with other missile systems in 2025.

Sweden’s defense procurement agency amended a contract with MBDA to add more CAMM surface‑to‑air missiles for its Visby‑class corvettes, supporting modernization of the country’s naval air defense.

MBDA also continued work on upgraded short‑range systems.

Its MISTRAL 3 short‑range air defense missile completed final qualification trials in Spain, offering improved performance against small aerial threats such as drones.
