Honeywell Aerospace has announced a $500-million investment to bolster its position as a key supplier for the US Department of Defense.
The funding will be used to modernize the company’s production capacity as part of a framework agreement with the Pentagon to increase throughput of critical airborne capabilities.
The upgrades will benefit developments in navigation systems for sustained awareness across complex domains and the Arizona-based firm’s proprietary Assure actuator systems for missile maneuverability.
Additionally, the move will support the production of electronic warfare solutions tailored for American fighter jets, the Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program, and the Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles.
“Honeywell Aerospace is proud to embrace the challenge and meet this urgent need,” said Jim Currier, president and CEO of Honeywell Aerospace.
“Our commercial operating system enables us to invest in advanced technologies and manufacture at scale and speed, delivering a substantial and enduring benefit to the customer and taxpayers.”
Addressing ‘Long-Term Demand’
The investment aligns with Washington’s broader Acquisition Transformation Strategy to improve collaborations with the entire US defense supply chain to optimize equipment delivery and build a “more robust and responsive industrial base.”
“Our strategy is to provide the long-term demand signals that unlock private investment, and this half-billion-dollar commitment from Honeywell Aerospace demonstrates we are succeeding,” Pentagon Acquisition and Sustainment Undersecretary Michael Duffey stated.
“We are building the deep and dominant Arsenal of Freedom our nation requires by ensuring our entire industrial base can deliver at speed and scale.”
