Ericsson Federal Wins Networking Spot on $151B Golden Dome Program
Ericsson Federal Technologies Group has signed a prime contract to support networking solutions for the US Missile Defense Agency’s Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) initiative.
SHIELD is a $151-billion contracting vehicle that shapes Washington’s planned Golden Dome system, an Israeli Iron Dome-inspired capability that combines interceptors and radars to defend the country against air and missile threats.
Under Ericsson’s framework, the company will provide secure, high-performance 5G and emerging 6G technologies tailored to defense and homeland security missions.
Its offerings include virtualized enterprise architectures, open radio access network-ready systems, and integrated artificial intelligence and machine learning tools.
The corporation leverages the American supply chain in its ventures, including the USA 5G Smart Factory in Texas, as well as the capabilities of its Swedish parent company, Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson, to provide resilient digital infrastructure for national security customers.
Currently, the firm is exploring Integrated Sensing and Communications, a dual-use technology to locate and monitor unmanned aerial systems while enhancing anti-drone missions.
Christopher Ling, CEO at Ericsson Federal, explained that the SHIELD award underscores the company’s commitment to strengthening US and allied deterrence, defending borders and citizens, and securing digital sovereignty.
“Winning a prime position on the SHIELD contract vehicle is a defining moment for Ericsson Federal as we support the Golden Dome for America initiative,” Ling said.
“Our core mission is to improve network resiliency because, in this modern world of AI, robotics, and cyber, network security is national security.”
