Windracers ULTRA Drone Doubles Range, Set for Heavier Payloads

Windracers is set to upgrade its ULTRA drone to carry 200 kilograms (441 pounds) over 2,000 kilometers (1,243 miles), with the enhanced capability expected to be available in the coming months.

Unveiled at the British drone manufacturer’s LAUNCH 2026 event in London, the heavy-lift, dual-use drone can already fly up to 2,000 kilometers (1,243 miles) carrying payloads of more than 100 kilograms (220 pounds).

The company’s Head of Manufacturing, Joe Roberts, outlined plans to scale production, aiming to build hundreds of ULTRA drones over the next two years.

Dual-Use Drone

The ULTRA drone is already in operation in several countries in defense or civilian applications.

This includes Ukraine, where it has been used for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance as well as resupply missions since 2023, as part of the UK’s military aid, Defence Express reported in 2024.

With a maximum endurance of up to 10 hours, a rugged fixed-wing build, and powered by standard fuel, the drone can withstand harsh weather conditions, enabling it to support long-endurance cargo delivery to remote areas.

“Air cargo delivery to our remote communities is vital to life in Alaska, so we purchased the Windracers ULTRA aircraft to test how large unmanned aircraft can be safely used by Alaska air carriers to provide medical supplies and cargo to these communities,” said Cathy Cahill, University of Alaska Fairbanks Professor and Director of the Alaska Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration, in October 2025.

According to Windracers, the ULTRA is also set to expand operations into Africa.
