HII Wins Role in Missile Defense Agency’s $151B SHIELD Contract Vehicle

HII has signed a deal to provide services for the US Missile Defense Agency’s Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) contracting vehicle.

SHIELD is leading the acquisition effort intended to help the Pentagon materialize its planned Golden Dome system, a network of radars and interceptors designed to protect the homeland against modern air and missile threats.

Procurements under this strategy have a ceiling of $151 billion, with over 1,000 industry partners selected to support the development, testing, and fielding of corresponding technologies.

HII’s award tasks its Mission Technologies segment with assisting “a broad range of work areas” aimed at accelerating capability delivery to the program.

The work scope includes potential activities in command and control integration, directed energy, cyber operations, microelectronics, spectrum management, training systems, maintenance, and logistics.

“We’re honored to support [Missile Defense Agency] on this important SHIELD mission,” said Andy Green, executive vice president of HII and president of Mission Technologies.

“It reinforces our commitment to advancing national security and protecting the homeland. SHIELD represents a critical element of the current vision for homeland defense, and we’re excited to bring our expertise in directed energy, microelectronics and systems integration to help meet these mission needs.”
