GomSpace Wins $5.4M Contract for European Microsatellite Platform

GomSpace has secured a 50-million Swedish kronor ($5.4-million) contract to design and deliver a microsatellite platform for a leading European defense company.

The Danish smallsat manufacturer will handle the design, integration, and delivery of the configured microsatellite, with full execution expected by summer 2027.

While the customer was not named, GomSpace described the deal as a step toward providing sovereign space capabilities to Europe, emphasizing its focus on agile manufacturing and flight-proven satellite platforms.

CEO Carsten Drachmann highlighted the award as recognition of GomSpace’s growing role in the defense space sector.

“Our proven satellite platforms, agile manufacturing and partnership approach will be an excellent basis for making this project a success,” he said.

GomSpace’s European Footprint

The deal builds on several European contracts GomSpace has won in the past year alone.

In June 2025, the company entered a deal with a European tech firm to build a constellation of 18 satellites within 12 months, marking one of its largest commercial European platform orders to date.

By September 2025, GomSpace had followed that with a contract with Unseenlabs in France to deliver two additional cube satellites to expand an existing constellation, with delivery scheduled in the second half of 2026.

GomSpace also won a contract with the European Space Agency to fast-track development of its next-generation Attitude and Orbit Control Software in October 2025.
