Hungary Tests Anti-Drone ‘Corridors’ in Largest Modern Military Drills

The Hungarian Defence Forces (HDF) have tested counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) “corridors” during Exercise Adaptive Hussars 2025, the country’s largest military drills in recent history.

Footage released by the Ministry of Defence shows troops installing mesh barriers along key supply routes and around maintenance hubs identified as high-risk targets for drone strikes.

The structures are designed to restrict the movement of hostile drones, forcing operators to search for gaps and buying critical time for personnel and equipment to avoid detection or attack, Militarnyi reported.

Large-Scale Joint NATO Drills

Exercise Adaptive Hussars 2025 began in September and will run until mid-October across multiple regions of Hungary.

Conducted alongside NATO allies, it involves more than 22,000 personnel, including regular and reserve troops, special operations forces, engineers, logistics teams, and aviation units.

The drills focus on testing readiness, rapid mobility, command and control, and coordination with civilian agencies during emergency scenarios.

River Crossing Practice

Earlier in the exercise, Hungarian forces conducted a river crossing over the Tisza between the central-eastern towns of Martfű and Vézény using a temporary bridge. Lynx armored fighting vehicles and a Turkish contingent with M113 armored personnel carriers crossed the span,  simulating operations after the destruction of main bridges.

One highlight featured a reconnaissance unit using horses to covertly establish an observation post near the crossing point. After completing their mission, the horses were withdrawn to a protected location.
