Initial Pégase Light Tactical Vehicles Enter French Army Service

Arquus has announced that the first of its new Pégase light tactical vehicles is now entering service in the French Army.

The Pégase, short for Véhicule Léger des Forces Spéciales, is being introduced as part of a broader effort to expand the operational flexibility of the service’s dedicated units for unconventional missions.

The initial batch is now being received by the army’s 11th Parachute Brigade in Balma, Toulouse, an airborne light infantry group focusing on commando-style assault and raids.

A total of 206 vehicles are scheduled to be shipped to the military by 2030.

The Versailles-based firm first confirmed the fleet’s supply to Paris in April.

“Arquus is proud to contribute to this major capability leap for the benefit of the French forces,” Arquus said.

“Designed to combine stealth, all-terrain mobility and firepower, the PÉGASE vehicles embody a new generation of compact, robust vehicles perfectly suited to demanding operational environments.”

Vehicle Specifications

The Pégase is a compact, lightweight platform designed for reconnaissance, fire support, and tactical transport.

While the French Army has not disclosed full specifications, the Pégase is expected to include modular options for weapons, communications, and protection systems.

It will also be designed to reduce thermal and acoustic signatures, which are vital capabilities for special operations.

Considered a smaller version of Arquus’ Grizzly tactical vehicle, the Pégase will likely be powered by a 200-horsepower diesel engine to produce a speed of approximately 100 kilometers (62 miles) per hour.
