Israel Orders $260M in Advanced Airborne Munitions From Elbit Systems
Elbit Systems has accepted two contracts worth $260 million to deliver advanced airborne munitions to the Israeli Ministry of Defense.
The Haifa-based company did not disclose which specific articles are included in the deals, but its current portfolio of flagship airborne munitions includes the GATR laser-guided 70-millimeter rocket, compatible with existing launch platforms, and the MPR500 precision-guided rocket.
It also offers the PULS artillery rocket system capable of launching multiple types of ammunition with precision strike capabilities, the Rampage long-range air-to-surface missile, and the SkyStriker loitering munition designed to neutralize high-value targets.
In previous confirmed military sales to the Israel Defense Forces, Elbit delivered its Iron Sting 120-millimeter guided mortar with dual laser and GPS guidance for urban operations, the Lizard 3 bomb kit that converts conventional explosives into laser-guided precision munitions, and the SPICE family of air-to-surface guided bombs built for high-precision standoff strikes.
Commenting on the contract, CEO Bezhalel Machlis emphasized the company’s dedication to supporting the Israel Ministry of Defense and enhancing the operational readiness of the Israel Defense Forces.
“These new contracts underscore our commitment to delivering cutting-edge technologies that meet the evolving needs of Israel’s defense forces,” Machlis stated.
“These newly developed products join Elbit Systems’ growing portfolio of cutting-edge solutions, and I believe they will attract interest from armies around the world, given their relevance to emerging operational needs.”
Arms Sale With Serbia
Elbit’s contract with Tel Aviv came the same week the company announced a $1.6-billion deal to supply a European country with advanced defense systems, including AI-enabled capabilities, over the next five years.
The project includes long-range precision artillery and rocket systems, a fleet of unmanned aerial systems, signal and communications intelligence tools, electronic warfare equipment, modern intelligence collection and processing systems, and a digital combat network.
Local sources later verified that the customer is Serbia.
Prior to the latest order, the Balkan state’s engagements with the Israeli defense company included a $335-million package featuring PULS rocket systems and Elbit’s proprietary Hermes 900 reconnaissance unmanned aerial systems.
