Iran Claims Its Missile Capabilities ‘Nullified’ Israel’s Iron Dome
Iran has claimed that its missile arsenal severely weakened Israel’s Iron Dome defense system during last month’s conflict, PRESSTV reported.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said the Iron Dome faced a level of firepower it had never encountered before, claiming that the Iranian strikes caused extensive damage to the Israeli military, infrastructure, and security sites.
“The Zionist regime, which had been showcasing its power to the world and talking about the Iron Dome and its supposed security, received a decisive response,” he stated.
Qalibaf added that Iranian missiles penetrated deep into Israeli-held territory by the early stages of the fighting, framing the operation as a response to what Tehran considers unprovoked aggression by Israel.
“On the first night of the war, we launched 350 drones and over 150 missiles towards the Zionist regime,” Qalibaf said.
The Iranian official also claimed that Tehran was able to strike key defensive positions despite US and NATO backing for Israel, portraying the attacks as evidence not only of Israel’s vulnerability but also of Iran’s growing missile strength and operational reach.
Moreover, he warned that any future attacks on Iranian territory would trigger a strong military response and argued that Israel is unable to sustain a conflict without US assistance.
Last Month’s 12-Day War
Tensions between Iran, Israel, and Western powers sharply escalated following a 12-day war that ended with a fragile ceasefire on June 24.
Just a day later, on June 25, Iran’s parliament voted to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, deepening a diplomatic fallout.
The 12-day conflict began on June 13, when Israel launched strikes inside Iran, including attacks on nuclear sites, prompting Tehran to retaliate with waves of drone and missile fire that reached Israeli territory.
The fighting further escalated with US involvement supporting Israel, as Washington carried out unprecedented strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities at Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz.
Just days before the war started, the US had been pursuing renewed nuclear negotiations with Tehran, which have since stalled.
Iran’s judiciary reported that more than 900 people were killed across the country during the conflict, including civilians, senior military officials, and nuclear scientists.
